Kentucky - PSL AU
Cougar doesn't like having to leave the unit and go help the other services, but sometimes, when you're the unstable member of the Losers and you're still working off your mistakes in Afghanistan, Clay has to let other people ask for things that he doesn't get to say no to. It's why he has to go to Kentucky when a Mexican drug cartel is starting to make noise, both for his skills, but also his language and his knowledge from prior cases. He still doesn't have to like it, though he did grunt a promise to Pooch that he wouldn't kill anyone, promised Jake to bring him back some bourbon, promised Roque some moonshine, and promised Clay that he really promises he's not going to kill anyone.
Mentally, he keeps adding 'unless they deserve it', but no one needs to know.
That's why he's in an office now, hat tugged low, watching the flow of traffic around him. There's another man with a hat that seems to come in and out, a high-strung man in an office named Art that he's already introduced himself to, and a woman named Rachel is talking about the office and someone named 'Tim'. He nods along, though he hasn't actually said more than three words since he's been here, letting his ID and papers do the talking for him.
Rachel has finished with the details of the office and even though she keeps glancing to the door, she sighs and says she's moving on to the case. "Figures I'm the only one who owns a damn watch," she says with the long-suffering patience of a woman who's put up with a lot. Cougar's met many of them, has charmed some of them, but mainly, he's watched sensible, good woman meet Clay before they lost their heads and tried to make him pay.
He nods and gestures for her to continue, hat settled on his face as he perches on a desk, his boots hooked against the front, ass pressed up against a nameplate that reads 'Gutterson'.
